Beachbody is having a little contest for us coach moms where we share the healthy habits we pass on to our kids through picture or video, and hashtag it with #TBBCoachMom. So I decided to share with all of you the healthy habits I try and pass on to my two boys!
They always say that kids learn from what you do, and not by what you say. So living a healthy lifestyle – including eating a mostly healthy diet (yes I treat myself every once in a while) – is important to me so that my kids do the same.
Healthy Habit #1 for the week is to eat a rainbow! By making food colorful, it makes it exciting! It will also help your kids understand the importance of eating colorful foods and the nutritional value that comes along with them.
My 3 year old is not the best eater on the planet, that’s for sure. But if you stick a bowl of fruit in front of him, there’s no doubt that he would eat the whole thing! I try to incorporate a fruit or vegetable into each of his meals so that even if he doesn’t finish the whole plate, I know that he’s still getting the healthy stuff in his belly 🙂 I also try and let him cook with me (when it’s safe) because it makes him more prone to try new things since he helped make it! We have a great cookbook called Eat like a Dinosaur that has all kid-friendly, paleo (and gluten-free for those that need it) recipes in it and ways the kids can help in the kitchen – you can get it here.
My older son likes strawberries, blueberries, apples, bananas, green beans & broccoli (although there’s days when he could do without it) the most. My younger son LOVES apples, pears, avocado, zucchini, carrots, sweet potatoes, & squash. So I have a fruit lover and a veggie lover. Now I just have to find a happy medium between the two 🙂
